Ranking as one of the best Film Festivals for content, atmosphere, location & attention to detail, DIFF offers unique screening experiences with stars & talent attending seminars & workshops along with free family screenings.   Home to the Gregory Peck Award: For Excellence in the Art of Film, recipients have included: Gabriel Byrne (2008), Jim Sheridan (2009), Stephen Frears (2010) and Jean-Jacques Beineix (2011).   Guests to the festival have also included: Saoirse Ronan, Sarah Miles, Sir Alan Parker, Cillian Murphy, Lisa Albert, Maureen O Hara, Garrett Brown, Barbara Kopple, Ned Dowd, Jimmy T. Murakami, Anthony Wall, Geoff Wonfor, Sophie Fiennes and many more.   Dingle has been described as ‘the most beautiful place on earth’. Overlooking the Atlantic Ocean, an Irish Language community with a wonderful tradition in the arts. Dingle is home to many filmmakers, one of Ireland’s only independent cinemas, The Phoenix, built in 1937 by the Houlihan brothers, who burned peat to power the two Italian projectors in the cinema. They later sold electricity to the town of Dingle. Dingle is also known as a film location and a major tourist destination.   A recent feature documentary, ‘We’ll Always have Dingle’ has been made about the festival by Grammy Award winner, Geoff Wonfor.
