Welcome to Lisselton

Cead Míle Fáilte to Lisselton in Irish “Lios Eiltín” is a small village in north Kerry. It is 5 miles from Listowel on the road to Ballybunion. The village is part of Ballydonoghue parish, and is in the center of north Kerry. The village has a church, supermarket, post office, a butchershop and a family run bar and restaurant, The Thatch Bar. There are three primary schools in the parish.

We have two football clubs, the  Lisselton Rovers F.C and Ballydonoghue GAA Club.  In the 2011/12 season Lisselton Rovers moved to their new facility locally known as El Stadio Del Thatchio.

In 1954 The Lisselton Grotto was built and has been recently refurbished.

Famous faces from Lisselton: Writer Robert Leslie Boland and Maurice Walsh, author of  The Quiet Man came from Lisselton. Also John B Keane’s people were from the area and he once remarked that it was "a throbbing vein of literary genius running through the locality that made it easier to write than not to write".
