Welcome to Tarbert

The Forge Park / Páirc Na Ceárta

Proceeding along the river walk, the wooden footbridge crosses the Green river which meanders from a local parish source into Tarbert creek. Here there is an attractive riverside paved seating area in idyllic surroundings.  In a bygone era,  Paddy Kiely a blacksmith iron banded timber cart wheels on a milestone using the cooling river water.  Today fresh water fish in a protected environment travel up river to spawning grounds. Tall shady trees and gurgling waters give a sense of peace and relaxation while carved tree faces sculpted by Fear na Coillte Carvings add a sense of mystery.
