Listowel (Lios Tuathail, meaning Tuathal's Ringfort) is a market town located in the heart of North Kerry, on the River Feale. One of 26 designated Heritage Towns in Ireland, Listowel displays a myriad of wonderful architectural features, including the magnificent five arch bridge over the River Feale at the entrance to the Town and dates back to 1829. It is a charming market town with individual and exclusive style shops, a Farmers’ Market on Fridays, interesting river and parkland walks, cycling, golf, pub theatre, traditional music and exceptional festivals. Described as the 'Literary Capital of Ireland', Listowel has produced world famous writers including John B. Keane and Bryan MacMahon, giving it a uniqueness not to be found in any other part of Ireland. There is certainly a literary theme to many of the things to see in this lovely heritage town.
