Glenbeigh is a magical place referred to as "The Jewel in the Ring of Kerry". It is the ideal holiday location. Enjoy the six miles of golden sanded blue flag Rossbeigh Beach or the beauty of the rivers and lakes. It is cosily tucked in to the surrounding horseshoe of hills and Seefin Mountains. The Caragh River and the Behy River flow at either side of the village into Castlemaine Harbour.
Kayaking Glenbeigh is the perfect place for the adventure seeker. It's a great destination for canoeing on the flats of the Caragh River, or for surf kayaking at Rossbeigh beach. The Lower Caragh River is lake-fed and runs from Lough Caragh to the sea in Dingle Bay. Expect an enjoyable and continuous whitewater experience for a distance of about 2.6km. The Upper Caragh may be the best grade 3 river in Ireland with an occasional stretch of grade 4. This river requires plenty of recent rain to bring it up. It's a 4.2km run with an 8 m/km gradient.
2. Kids Playground
Tir na nOg Community Playground, is a new and very welcome addition to the beach. It has plenty of activities, a wonderful playground to keep the small ones entertained.
There are basketball and tennis courts along with an enclosed picnic area so that you can relax while your children play safely.
3. Horse Riding
Glenbeigh has an AIRE approved horse trekking centre just minutes from the village, near Rossbeigh beach. Burke's Trekking Centre is a friendly, family run, professional trekking centre for all riders.
With rides for everyone from children over the age of 8 (and nervous parents!) to experienced riders, include some horse riding in your holiday plans while in Glenbeigh.

If you enjoy fishing, Glenbeigh is the place for you. Its location on the Atlantic, surrounded by rivers and lakes, should be any angler's dream. Rossbeigh is great for shore anglers that enjoy beach-casting, spinning, plugging or saltwater fly fishing. For rivers, the upper and lower Caragh River and the Behy provide superb fishing. Boats can be hired for fishing on Caragh Lake. Glenbeigh's countryside is great for bird watching. The condensed area has forests, marshes, wetlands, estuaries, rivers, coastlines, mudflats and uplands. Large numbers of birds winter here and many others stopover during migration.
Glenbeigh is a walker's paradise. A relaxing stroll on the blue flag beach of Rossbeigh or a nature walk through the forest with some circular routes along lazy country roads. An experienced walker can complete the Seefin loop walk in 3 hours.
8. Rossbeigh Beach
Rossbeigh Beach is an accredited Blue Flag spit of sand, beach and dunes, about 2km from Glenbeigh village.

9. Hang Gliding
Hang gliding is a popular adventure sport in Glenbeigh and Rossbeigh is a great spot for gliding. Get to the top of the mountain where there is parking and launch from there. Rossbeigh has smooth sea winds that generally blow from the west, northwest and north. The Ross airspace is a joy to fly and experienced glider pilots can continue along a mountain range ridge stretching for 17 miles.
